Hi, I'm Deyu.
This website is a collection of my thoughts, ideas, and experiences. Hope you enjoy!
Here's what I've done so far.
Systems Application Engineer - Autonomous Driving
Launched NIO Pilot, an advanced driver assistance package, in China. Features include Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Lane Change (ALC), Pilot, a L2 highway assist feature, and more.
I managed feature tuning and sign-off testing for Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning. I led a team of engineers and technicians in Shanghai to optimize user feature performance and the user experience for the China market. AEB & FCW has been successfully deployed on over 50,000 vehicles across China, and played an important role in achieving an 5-star safety rating for China NCAP.
DonatePPE.org s a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to provide healthcare professionals and firstresponders around the world with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) they need to fight against COVID-19.
I launched DonatePPE.org in mid-March when hospitals were just beginning to scramble for PPE. I built a team of over 30 dedicated volunteers, together we launched a platform that connected hospitals that are in dire need of PPE to donors from their communities. We developed partnerships with corporations like Ford, Norwex, Flexport, and UPS to expand the scale of our operations. So far, we have raised over $150,000 and distributed over 1.5 million units of PPE across the United States, Canada, and Africa.
Product Development Engineer - ADAS
My team, Vehicle Engineering – ADAS, was responsible for ensuring that the ADAS features work exactly as they are suppose to before they reach our customers. At Ford, I created test procedures utilizing automated driving robots to significantly improve testing repeatability and data quality. I led signoff testing and launched Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning across multiple vehicle lines. I was also a part of the program management team at the Kentucky Truck Plant where we successfully launched the all-new Ford Superduty.
Intern - Large Engine Dynamics
During my internship at GE Aviation, I worked on the Large Engine Dynamics team in Evendale, Ohio. I wrote excel macros and MATLAB scripts to automate data analysis. I created a script to injest data from multiple tests, process the data, and output the results into a PDF file.
Intern - Advanced Vehicle Engineering
During my summer internship at Chrysler, I worked on the Advanced Vehicle Engineering team in Auburn Hills, Michigan. My summer project was to identify and benchmark the best torque vectoring systems on the market to generate requirements for the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
I’m interested in using technology and entrepreneurship to create social impact. One of the areas I am most passionate about is education. Education provides opportunities. For many people developing countries, it is still the only way to escape poverty.
I am an automated driving engineer in Santa Clara, California. I graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to NIO, I worked at Ford Motor Company, GE Aviation, and Fiat Chrysler.
I enjoy traveling and the outdoors. I’ve been climbing for about 6 years now, but somehow I’m still not very good at it. I also enjoy mountain biking, hiking up mountains, and all kinds of type 2 fun.
